Case Study: Service Kitchen HVAC Replacement in a Country Hotel

Project Overview

  • Client:  Country Hotel
  • Location: Service Kitchen
  • Completion Date: Early November 2024
  • Services Provided: Replacement of a failed cooling system in a high-use kitchen environment.
  • Key Products: Mitsubishi stainless steel indoor unit designed for commercial kitchens.

Background and Client Needs

The service kitchen at a country hotel serves residents with teas, coffees, and snacks throughout the day, operating from 06:00 to 00:00 daily. When the existing cooling system failed, the client required a swift and effective replacement to ensure minimal disruption to kitchen operations.

Challenges

  • Operational Constraints: The kitchen could not be closed during its operating hours, requiring a tailored work schedule to minimise disruption.
  • Demanding Schedule: With the area in use for 18 hours daily, the project needed to be completed within tight timeframes.

Solution and Implementation

MGI developed a plan that balanced the client’s operational needs with the technical requirements of the project:

  1. Non-Disruptive Scheduling:
    • Internal work was carried out during two-night shifts, between 00:00 and 05:00, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the kitchen during its daily hours of use.
  2. Tailored Equipment Selection:
    • A Mitsubishi cooling system with a stainless steel indoor unit was chosen, specifically designed to meet the challenges of commercial kitchen environments, including durability and performance under high-usage conditions.
  3. Efficient Execution:
    • The replacement work was completed on time and within the agreed schedule, ensuring the client’s kitchen remained fully operational during peak hours.

Outcome

The project was successfully completed without disrupting the kitchen’s operations, meeting the client’s expectations for efficiency and reliability. The new system provides improved cooling performance, tailored for the demands of a busy commercial kitchen.

Key Benefits for the Hotel

  • Zero Operational Disruption: Work was completed during off-hours, ensuring the kitchen could continue serving residents seamlessly.
  • Durable, Commercial-Grade Solution: The Mitsubishi system’s stainless steel indoor unit offers long-term reliability in a demanding environment.

Timely Completion: The project was delivered on schedule, minimising downtime and ensuring uninterrupted service for the hotel’s guests.
